A six-week archaeological excavation at the Alamo has revealed ceramics from the Spanish colonial era and a vintage 1970s soda can, but no remnants of the south wall of the mission-fort.The latest of five areas was dug to a depth of about 5 feet as the excavation for the Alamo's Mission Gate and Lunette Exhibit starts to wind down, the Alamo reported in a weekly update on its Facebook page. Archaeologists with the Alamo and Raba Kistner have since been carefully photographing, mapping and documenting information on the soil layers at each unit, while assessing and cataloguing the few artifacts recovered, mostly at lower levels.
